By all means add your own but I think the article covers the main defeats..I’m only surprised that Britain lost. I won’t vote myself until I’m over the shock.

You will probably be in the exams room or A04 for your formal assessment. The paper is for 1 hour 15 minutes but you will not have sufficient time during periods 3 and 4. Therefore, I propose that you answer questions 1 to 4 in 51 minutes on Tuesday and complete question 5 in the remaining 24 minutes on Wednesday. Instructions will be given out during the lessons. However, papers must be given back at the end of the first lesson and only question 5 can be answered on Wednesday.

The topic is the Home Front during the Second World War, specifically the evacuation of children. Remember to read the advice given at the bottom of the GCSE Britain page on how to answer questions. Feel free to email me with questions.

• Complete an essay plan (you have the option to submit this on Tuesday 29th November for comments)
• Complete the following essay – Was Field Marshall Haig the ‘Butcher of the Somme’?

• Read chapter 11 of the handout ‘Oliver Cromwell: dictator?’
• Answer the following questions in your exercise books;

1. Using Sources A, C and D write down 3 points why you think Cromwell became Lord Protector

2. What image of Cromwell does Source B give you?  Describe in a short paragraph.

3. How does this differ from what Cromwell says in Source D?  Describe in a short paragraph.

4. Using bullet points note down what evidence you can find in sources A-G that people’s ideas about Cromwell changed as time went on.

5. Write a short paragraph describing why you think people’s ideas might have changed.

• Create a table in your exercise books similar to the one below.  Note a minimum of 3 points supported with evidence from the handout in each column.
